Dear Parents/Guardians,
What makes a Catholic School great? … A strong belief in Gospel values, high expectations for all students, parent involvement, excellent resources, a healthy learning environment, up to date technology, qualified and dedicated teachers, strong school leadership and a rigorous curriculum… Saint Leo the Great School has it all! Once again, our students have significantly surpassed the national norms on the Terra Nova standardized tests. We are thankful to and proud of the students and teachers for their hard work in securing these honorable scores. Congratulations!
Congratulations are also in order for the members of the cast and the directors of Willy Wonka! What an amazing group of talented people we have. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this marvelous performance. It was worthy of Broadway.
The entire Saint Leo the Great family is invited to our Marian Prayer Service to observe the beautiful first Communicants crown the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is a time honored Catholic tradition that all will enjoy. Please join us on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. in the Church for this beautiful service.
Among other things, The Blessed Mother was a model for all women in modesty. It has become apparent that several of our girls have “grown” so tall that their skirts “appear” to be too short. Modesty is at risk. If the girls cannot pass the infamous INDEX CARD test, they may be receiving demerits. Please talk to your daughters about modesty and the length of their skirts. Please support us in this really important matter.
We have also noticed another serious problem and that is speeding in and out of our parking lot. The speed limit is 5 miles per hour. Please help us with this. Let’s not wait till a tragedy occurs. Please slow down.
Very soon, teachers will be meeting to discuss student placement. This is a very important part of our planning for the next school year. Our teachers meet and discuss each student’s academic potential, individual learning styles and social needs before they decide in which class a student would flourish spiritually and academically. Teachers take this responsibility very seriously and they pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance to make the right and final choices. All this is done in the best interest of every child.
The good news (especially for the children) is that there will be NO SCHOOL June 8, 2012 or on June 15 for students. THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS WILL BE JUNE 14, 2012.

children to a closer relationship to God…that administrators and educators have an urgent
responsibility to make social teaching integral to catholic Education…and that Catholic teachings should become real as students apply their knowledge to their daily lives and the lives of those around them. I further believe that every Catholic school administrator has the responsibility to educate the whole student, mind, body and soul because every child can learn and grow spiritually and academically.”
